Carbon Fibre ain’t an important material since yesterday. Right now it already plays an important role in our everyday live. For example in sports gear manufacturing, in the aircraft and automotive industry and not to forget in the formula student community. In all these applications the magical fibre is used. The development aims for thinner and thinner layers of the semi finished material while increasing the mechanical strength. For 10 years now, the company Oxeon produces semi-finished products for ultralight composites. Besides the superior mechanical features, their products are well known for there special chessboard like texture.

Die Kohlenstofffaser ist nicht erst seit „gestern“ ein ganz besonderer Werkstoff. Sie ist schon jetzt aus dem „modernen“ Leben nicht mehr wegzudenken. Beispielsweise bei Sportgeräten, im kommerziellen Automobilbau oder in der Formula Student. Überall wird die Wunderfaser verarbeitet. Dabei geht die Entwicklung des Verbundmaterials auf immer dünnere Halbzeuge mit zunehmend besseren mechanischen Eigenschaften. Die Firma Oxeon produziert nun schon im 10. Jahr aus den Fasern optimierte Verstärkungshalbzeuge für ultraleichte Verbundbauteile. Besonders auffallend ist das Muster. Es ähnelt einem Schachbrett und sticht damit gegenüber der normalen Kohlenstofffaseroptik besonders hervor.
