ITM: Support in Know-How
Since our second Formula student season in 2009 we drive with carbon fibers in our monocoque and we continually increased our CFRP assembly portfolio.
We not only produce the monocoque and undertray with CFRP but also side channel, nose, head restraint, seat, steering wheel, housings and – this year for the first time – front and rear wings.
In addition to conventional textile structures like fabrics and knitted fabrics the Institut für Textilmaschinen und Textile Hochleistungswerkstofftechnik at TU Dresden deals with many process variants for reinforcements expecially for CFRP. So you can find the best textile structure for nearly every specific application.
Nowadays it seems amazing that weaving as one of the oldest handicraft is renewed by all the technical textiles.
It’s a great pleasure that we can always use machinery and the know-how of the ITM as one among a small number of textile institutes in Germany. Special thanks to Mr. Staiger, Mrs. Girdauskaite and Mr. Haupt!
This year we could again rely on the excellent quality of our partner TKG. Thanks to them, this year's Bolide can once again stand on carbon rims, because they manufactured the rim shape for us. The heat sinks were also manufactured by our in-house erosion department. Furthermore, you were able to take over the demanding production of the self-developed engine including the high-precision titanium shaft for us. Many thanks for the uncomplicated, competent and reliable cooperation!
