Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology

Knowledge broker, contact person, a friend in need, material supplier, and much more. These are the capacities of the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Polymer Technology, short ILK, which are so important for us. We are supplied by the Institute staff constantly and willingly with knowledge in designing, analyzing and manufacturing of composite components. Furthermore, it is possible for us to use the technical facilities at the Institute at any time. Among these appliances are: an autoclave, a large climatic chamber, a large number of ovens and a drop tower with a height of 25 meters.

At the ILK is an independent “lightweight Campus” grown, which covers many facets. At first it should be noted that research and development activities are carried out in the field of load-adapted lightweight structures here. Therefore, the complete development process of a component is monitored and executed on the spot: Started with the material to the design and simulation proceeding to the manufacturing of the prototype and ultimately the quality assurance and a cost analysis!
Furthermore the “lightweight campus” provides a home for many students of different specializations of the TU Dresden.
